IAS Youth Voices at AIDS 2016
In order to increase youth engagement and participation in the 21st International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2016), the Youth Voices Initiative is organizing a Youth Ambassadors programme and a Satellite Session: “Clinical Models of HIV Care for Adolescents”. To further highlight youth voices, select conference sessions will screen short films featuring youth representatives who participated in focus group discussions and media workshops in South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania (Zanzibar), coordinated by the Youth Voices Initiative. The short films have been co-produced by youth and emphasize their needs and wants from the HIV response, in their very own words.
Youth Ambassadors Programme
The IAS Youth Voices Initiative is organizing a Youth Ambassadors programme to provide capacity-building and networking opportunities to a select group of young advocates, researchers and activists during the AIDS 2016 conference.
Satellite Session: Clinical Models of HIV Care for Adolescents
The IAS Youth Voices Initiative will hold a 2-hour Satellite event on 18 July 2016, 10.15-12.15, providing a platform for researchers, healthcare professionals and programme implementers to discuss promising clinical care practices for adolescents. The symposium is designed to both strengthen the evidence base through presentation of new research on adolescent HIV services, and to help address key gaps in adolescent HIV prevention and care by improving knowledge of targeted approaches among practitioners.
