Helen McDowell has been elected as the ILF industry representative. Helen, who has worked in HIV for over 15 years, leads global public policy, access to medicine, advocacy and global public health initiatives, including public-private partnerships, for ViiV Healthcare. She is also an active member of GSK’s (ViiV’s majority shareholder) Global Health Leadership team.
“At ViiV Healthcare, we have long believed in the impact and power of taking a partnership approach to tackling global health issues – something that has recently been underscored by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Helen said. “As the newly-elected ILF industry representative, I am excited to be part of a broad team, united in our focus and commitment to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic.”
Dr Anton Pozniak, Immediate Past President of the IAS and ILF Non-Industry Co-Chair, said of Helen’s election: “I very much look forward to working with Helen to continue to promote and facilitate the important contribution of the biomedical industry to the HIV response.”
Established by the IAS in 2001, the ILF is a cross-stakeholder, neutral, “safe-space” forum that actively expands and engages its membership base to foster connections, dialogue and action along the HIV prevention, diagnosis and care continuum. ILF members represent industry, non-industry and civil society.
The IAS would like to thank Cori Vail, outgoing ILF Industry Co-Chair, for her leadership and contribution to the ILF during her short tenure. Cori stepped down as Co-Chair following an internal promotion at Janssen.
