As the world’s leading independent association of HIV professionals, it is important to the IAS that staff in the secretariat receive HIV awareness training. “Welcome Packs” which include basic information on HIV and the organization are given to new employees and “Brown Bag Lunches” delivered by experts on different areas of HIV are held throughout the working year. The IAS is also in the process of putting in place an ‘HIV in the workplace’ section in the HR Manual, as part of a code of good practice.
The IAS brochure is distributed to all IAS and conference suppliers, to ensure that all organizations working with the IAS and our conferences have access to relevant information about both the IAS and the global HIV response. All conference volunteers are given the opportunity to be present during all sessions and speeches as well as participating in condom workshops.
