Executive Director in Global Medical Affairs – Virology at Gilead Sciences
Christian assumed the role of Executive Director in Global Medical Affairs – Virology at Gilead Sciences in September 2024. He studied microbiology and molecular genetics at the University of California Los Angeles, completed medical school at the University of California San Diego, and undertook residency training in internal medicine/paediatrics at Duke University Medical Center. He completed fellowship training in infectious diseases and a Master’s degree in global public health at the University of Washington in Seattle. Christian has distinguished himself as a clinician-educator and leader in community-based research, policy and global health across many areas of infectious diseases.
Before joining Gilead, Christian served as the Chief of Population Health at Family Health Centers of San Diego, a large federally qualified health centre system serving nearly 200,000 medically underserved individuals across 27 clinical sites. He continues to maintain a bilingual HIV, liver disease and addiction medicine practice at the centre.
