CIPHER

What CIPHER does

The Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER) closes scientific gaps by placing the unique challenges of paediatric and adolescent populations on the global public health agenda.

Established in 2012, CIPHER accelerates an evidence-informed, human rights-based and integrated HIV response for infants, children, adolescents and young people living with and affected by HIV.

CIPHER in context

A child (aged 0-14 years) dies from AIDS-related causes every seven minutes. In 2024, 55% of children living with HIV received antiretroviral therapy compared with 77% of adults, well short of the global target of 95% treatment coverage.

CIPHER was the domino effect that propelled so many good things in my life, and I’m so grateful.
