Communications Manager, AVAC

Daisy Ouya joined AVAC in 2017, where she is currently Communications Manager, working primarily under the Coalition to Accelerate and Support Biomedical HIV Prevention Research (CASPR), a USAID-supported project. Her role involves research translation, communications and stakeholder engagement in Africa in support of biomedical HIV prevention throughout the research-to-rollout continuum.
Her 15-year-plus experience in science communications comes from working with international research and development non-profits as science editor, science writer and communications specialist. Between 2007 and 2012, she managed the Africa communications programme at IAVI, focused on HIV vaccine clinical research.
Daisy has an MS in chemistry from the University of Connecticut, USA, and a BSc in chemistry from the University of Nairobi in her native country, Kenya. She is also a board-certified Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS, USA).
