What inspires you to work in the HIV field?
Contributing to the pursuit of improving maternal and child health outcomes in the context of HIV inspires me to be a researcher. I am also inspired by the resilience of families affected by HIV, especially children, in high-burden settings. I feel driven and challenged by my colleagues and other professionals who are committed to advancing knowledge in HIV research and hold themselves to the highest scientific standards. Finally, I am inspired by the efforts of local governments, policy makers, researchers, scientists and families affected by HIV in Malawi, who supported the implementation of Option B+ and paved the path for the maternal lifelong ART era.
What are your goals as an IAS change maker?
As an IAS change maker, I hope to represent children who are exposed to HIV and did not acquire HIV as a growing research priority. I also hope to gain ideas about research questions of importance to mothers living with HIV and build upon my knowledge by hearing the perspectives of young and well-established professionals. Also, I hope to foster a community within the HIV research field and discuss my PhD research with experts, gain new perspectives on my work, and explore potential directions and opportunities for postdoctoral research or fellowships.
