What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

Early in my studies, I became passionate about how molecular and cellular biology could be applied to human health. Thus, I was promptly attracted to virology where all these sciences (molecular biology, cellular biology and human health) merge. When I started working in the HIV field, I realized that the global response to HIV faces multiple challenges that must be addressed from multiple perspectives. This point in itself represents a challenge and demands an extra commitment from all parties involved.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My ultimate goal would be to create a collaborative network of Latin American teams working in the HIV field, particularly in cure research. The objective of the network would be focused on joining efforts to incorporate the latest technology, promote collaborations, explore funding opportunities, intensify cutting-edge research, and promote educational activities within the region.
