What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

In the past decade, as a young person living with HIV, I have dedicated my life to contributing to HIV and sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the response for adolescents and young people in their diversity (adolescent girls and young women, young people living with HIV, young key populations, young people living with disabilities).

In 2015, the regional African Network of Adolescents and Young Persons Development was instituted to work with adolescents and young people and address their HIV- and SRHR-related needs. We have advocated and pushed for meaningful engagement of adolescents and young people in policy- and decision-making forums at state, national, regional and global levels, and the design and implementation of programmes and projects to promote access to HIV prevention, treatment and SRHR of adolescents and young people.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

To sustain the gains made, my goals are to learn and bring in my wealth of knowledge and experience towards advancing the IAS global scientific agenda, especially HIV cure.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
