What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

The fact that many women and children in Africa are living with HIV and need hope for the future inspires me to work in the HIV field. I have had a chance to be part of a study that looked at the combined effect of HIV and Depo-Provera on bone mineral density. Our findings showed that women living with HIV using TDF and on Depo-Provera tend to lose their bone strength over time. In Africa, most women work more than men, and they need remedies for their HIV-related issues to strengthen them and give them hope for tomorrow.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My main goal is to effectively change lives of people living with HIV by giving them a reason to live, to protect themselves and others.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
