Executive Director, Global Infectious Disease Policy, Merck
Silas Holland leads global public policy initiatives and advocacy to support Merck’s broad infectious disease portfolio, including HIV treatment and prevention medicines, COVID-19 therapeutics, pandemic preparedness, antibiotics/antifungals and neglected tropical diseases, such as malaria and TB. He was previously the Director of Oncology Policy for Latin America, where he launched major regional projects to facilitate greater access to immuno-oncology treatments. Before joining Merck in 2016, Silas worked at multilateral organizations and NGOs around the world to expand access to medicines, including the World Health Organization, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, UNICEF and Ayuda al Planeta – Guatemala. Silas has a BA in biology from Duke University and postgraduate degrees in education (Loyola Marymount University) and public health (University of Pretoria).
