Heather Madsen received her PhD in evolutionary genetics from the University of California, Riverside. During her 20-year career at GSK and ViiV Healthcare, she has held a variety of roles, including Vaccines, Diagnostics and HIV Lead for Computational Biology, Head of R&D for the Respiratory Virus Diagnostics Business Unit, Executive Director of Research, Alternative Discovery and Development, Target Sciences Therapy Area Lead for Infectious Diseases. Heather has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and led a diversity of projects from early R&D to post-marketing. In her current role as Head of Bioinformatics and HIV Cure at ViiV Healthcare and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Heather leads multidisciplinary teams as part of a unique public-private partnership dedicated to discovering and developing medicines for HIV cure.
