Since 2004, Mitchell Warren has been Executive Director of AVAC, which accelerates ethical development and delivery of HIV prevention options as part of a drive to global health equity. He is Co-Chair of the Global HIV Prevention Coalition, a member of the PEPFAR Scientific Advisory Board, and President of the TB Alliance Stakeholder Association. In 1999, he joined the Female Health Company, manufacturer of the female condom, and in 2003, joined the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative. He was President of the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise and led its transition into an IAS programme in 2018. He helped create HIVR4P within the Enterprise in 2014 and was Co-Chair of HIVR4P 2020/1. He was Track D Co-Chair and a member of the Scientific Programme Committee for AIDS 2016 in Durban. He serves on the IAS Towards an HIV Cure Advisory Board and the IAS Governing Council.
