Pervin Anklesaria is Deputy Director, HIV Vaccines and Biologics, at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She leads BMGF strategy development for prophylactic HIV vaccines and biologics. Pervin recently celebrated her 10-year tenure at the BMGF. Pervin’s area of interest is in translational studies leading to development and rapid distribution of an effective vaccine for prevention of HIV in geographic areas where a prophylactic vaccine will have the most impact. Pervin spent most of her career at a small biotech company, Targeted Genetics Corporation, in Seattle, most recently as Vice President of Therapeutic Development. There, she led groups in preclinical, regulatory and clinical testing of innovative experimental HIV vaccines and gene transfer experimental candidates. Before joining the Gates Foundation, she spent two years at the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, where she served as a Project Director and Senior Technical Advisor, directing replicating viral vaccine and other projects.
